A five-mile long loop path circles the park, ideal for people to exercise or just stroll for leisurely activities. The park includes a boat launch, providing excellent access for motorboats and canoes to the river. The river at Sand Island Park is teeming with fish, making it an ideal spot for fishermen. The fish varieties include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, sunfish, white perch, channel catfish, common carp, and brown trout. Fishing is free to all from the banks of the river and can be done from a boat or canoe.
